- We collect what you give us (address, email, insurer, policy details, photos) and basic usage data — only to do the work you asked for.
- We never sell your information.
- We share data only with the vendors that run the service (payment, email, hosting, database, analytics) and, with your consent, an insurance agency if you request a placement referral.
- Colorado residents can access, correct, delete, or export their data and opt out of targeted advertising — and we honor browser opt-out signals (Global Privacy Control).
- We do not collect health or medical information.

This Privacy Policy explains how evenstate collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have. It applies to the evenstate website and services and works together with our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
evenstate (“evenstate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent homeowner advocate that helps homeowners understand and improve their wildfire insurability. For any privacy question, contact support@evenstate.ai. We are the “controller” of the personal data described here.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Contact details — your name and email address.
- Property & policy details — your property address, insurer, policy number, wildfire risk score, renewal or non-renewal information, and the mitigation you’ve done.
- Evidence you upload — photos and documents you submit to support a score appeal or service.
- Payment information — processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited details (such as the last four digits and card brand); we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Messages — anything you send us by email or through the site.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring links, collected through Google Analytics and standard server logs.
- Cookies & similar technologies — see Section 4.
2.3 Information from third parties
If you reach us through a partner referral or a signed link, we may receive limited context about how you arrived. We may also use public or licensed property and mapping data to frame your case.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the free tools and paid services you request, including building your case and preparing appeal materials.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe.
- To send you the results, updates, acknowledgments, and service emails you asked for (delivered through our email provider, Resend).
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Services.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We rely on your request and our contract with you to provide the Services, your consent where it applies, and our legitimate interest in running and improving evenstate securely.
4. Cookies, analytics & tracking
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage and device data as described above. We also use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to monitor how the site performs in search; these are ownership-verified reporting tools and do not track you across the web.
Depending on settings, Google Analytics can involve “targeted advertising” or “sharing” as some state laws define those terms. You can opt out at any time:
- We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of targeted advertising and any “sale”/“sharing.”
- You can install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- You can email support@evenstate.ai to opt out.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. By submitting photos and documents, you authorize evenstate to store them, review them, and use them as evidence in services you've requested. We never sell your information.
We share personal data only in these ways:
- Service providers that run evenstate on our behalf, under contract: Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), and Google (analytics). They may process your data only to provide their service to us.
- Placement referrals — if you choose a placement review, we share the details needed with the insurance agency that assists you. If you choose a placement review, evenstate may receive a referral fee from the insurance agency that assists you. This fee is not contingent on the purchase of any policy. We disclose it up front because you should know how we're paid.
- Legal & safety — when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of you, us, or others.
- Business transfer — if evenstate is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
6. Your privacy rights
6.1 Colorado residents (Colorado Privacy Act)
If you are a Colorado resident, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccuracies;
- Delete your personal data;
- Obtain a portable copy of data you provided; and
- Opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling.
To exercise any of these, email support@evenstate.ai. We will respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days where permitted, with notice). You may use an authorized agent, and we may need to verify your identity. Exercising your rights will not result in discriminatory treatment.
Right to appeal. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing support@evenstate.ai with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject. If we deny your appeal, you may contact the Colorado Attorney General.
6.2 Other states
If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as California, Virginia, Connecticut, or others), you may have similar rights — including to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or targeted advertising. Contact us the same way and we will honor the rights your state grants. We do not sell personal data or knowingly process it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the analytics described above, which you can opt out of.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain your case record and history, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your data sooner as described in Section 6.
8. How we protect your information
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects you, we will notify you as required by law.
9. Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for adults (18+) and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Sensitive information
Some information you provide (such as property risk details) may be considered sensitive. We use it only to provide the Services you requested. We do not collect or process health or medical information, and you should not submit it.
11. Third-party links
The Services may link to third-party sites (such as grant programs or insurers). Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, where required, notified to you.
